Adolfo
Crespo Márquez

Adolfo Crespo Márquez is a Full Professor at the School of Engineering at the University of Seville, where he has served as the Head of the Department of Industrial Management. Holding a Ph.D. (with Honors) in Industrial Engineering from the same institution, his academic achievements and contributions to the field have earned him recognition on the Stanford University list of world top-scientists for several years. Additionally, in 2020, he was honored with the Spanish Maintenance Award by the Spanish Maintenance Association (AEM).

Prof. Crespo's scholarly impact is evident in the publication of his works in prestigious journals, authorship of 8 books, and editorial role in 5 books. These publications, spanning diverse topics including maintenance and operations, supply chain, and assets management, have been released by well-known publishers such as Springer Verlag, IGI Global or AENOR. Notably, Prof. Crespo has also lent his expertise as the advisor for 18 Ph.D. theses, underscoring his significant role in guiding emerging scholars in their academic pursuits.

Beyond his academic pursuits, Prof. Crespo is deeply involved in the engineering community. He is a Fellow and Director of ISEAM (International Society of Engineering Assets Management), Editor-in-Chief of the Springer Book Series Engineering and Asset Management Review, Chairman of the Project 25 DX on Digital Transformation in Maintenance and Asset Management for the Global Forum on Maintenance & Asset Management and leads the Spanish Research Network on Assets Management. His leadership extends to the Spanish and European Committees for Maintenance Standardization AEN/CTN151 & TC319. Since 2002, he has served as the President of Ingeman, a National Association for the Development of Maintenance Engineering in Spain.

Specializing in Asset Management projects, Prof. Crespo has spearheaded the implementation of his model, as published in Springer Verlag (2007, book: "The Maintenance Management Framework"), in numerous Spanish, European, Asian and American utilities and industries at a corporate level (close to 25 implementations worldwide). His contributions extend beyond academia, as he has actively participated in engineering and consulting projects for various companies, the Spanish Departments of Defense, Science, and Education, as well as the European Commission (IPTS).
