Youth Science Parliament Sparks Debate on Energy and Climate

The IX Youth Science Parliament 2025 brought together bright young minds from across Andalusia, Spain, to promote debate and reflection among students on current scientific issues

The Andalusian Society for Science Dissemination and "Descubre Foundation" were organised the IX Youth Science Parliament 2025, in collaboration with the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology, the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities and the Andalusian Youth Institute of the Andalusian Regional Government. The main objective of this proposal is to promote debate and reflection among students on current scientific issues, while at the same time to raise awareness among participating students about how decisions are made in a democracy.

The activity is aimed at high school and vocational training students working on four specific topics related to the Sustainable Development Goals.

    Energy
    Mobility and health
    Production, consumption and food
    Communication and climate change

Prof. José Antonio Becerra, member of ENGREEN, attended the preparatory session as external expert in the topic of energy, and introduce CEEGS and ECF4CLIM projects to the students.

The final session will be held at the Andalusian Parliament in March 2025. This session will involve mixed teams of four students representing the participating Andalusian schools, who have previously debated the proposed topics in the classroom.
